gpw wrote:I agree Gizmo but here is some experience that I went through. I was called on criminal jury and during selection I saw a young man with parents crying behind him. Truley pathetic site. He was accused of killing a cab driver in cold blood. He was 10 feet or so in front of our jury pool. The prosecution attorney asked me if I could give him the death penalty if warranted? I thought, looked at this young man and said no, I don't think so. Never forgot that day. Right or wrong, I could not pull the trigger on that boy.
I was green with criminal court and it's different when you are there in person. Thinking back I regret my decision.

You are only a normal human being. I don't believe in the DS for a few reason. Main one being that we all have to die one day, therefore I don't want to think of death as a punishment. I too would not have been able to pull the switch on anyone, no matter what, although I have heard some cases where it would have been very appropriate, such as the case where those two men held a doctors family hostage, then raped the mother and her daughter and then burned them to death. If anyone ever deserved to die for what they did, them two certainbly did.

As for the juror's, I assume they would have to be death penalty qualified. I would not want that job.

I was called for jury duty once in my life and it was for a car accident, way back before "no fault" came into play. It was interesting but it only involved whom was going to pay the bill.

I would be happy if Jodi received LWOP, never to have a chance at parole. She should never walk in society again. However, due to the horrible way that she murdered Travis, I'm sure his family want to see her life taken as well. I'm sure if Travis was my brother, I'd want to see her pay the ultimate price.

Giz.....I, on the other hand, have no problem putting someone to death. I believe there are people walking this earth that have absolutley no business being here. They do not contribute to society in any way, shape or form, nor will they ever. They cause death and destruction and have no redeeming value. To use my money to keep them in prison for life is not something I want to pay for. We as a society are much better off without them.

Just my opinion.

gpw, don't feel like the lone ranger. I would love to talk to Jodi also, as I would, Casey, Cindy and George Anthony. Sometimes the psychology of it all is more interesting that the murder itself.

I think Jodi caugt Travis by surprise and stabbed him in the chest. I think he was so stunned by it that he stumbled to the sink where he was bent over and Jodi starting stbbing him in the back. I think he broke away and headed for the bedroom where he collapsed and she slit his throat. I waver on her moving him back into the bathroom since "dead weight" is so hard to move, but the GSW happened in the bathroom where the shell casing was found so she had to have moved him. I dunno, thats just how I picture it.

Jodi Arias #2 22155654 I love it, I agree that we have many a person that should not be walking this earth. I just don't think I would be able to pull the plug. Now on the other hand, if someone came into my home, to harm my family or me I wouldn't hesitate to pull the trigger.

I just don't think that I would be able to send someone to the death chamber. But as I said above, I hear some cases that I may not hesitate to do it. I guess I have mixed feelings about it.

One thing I truly feel is needed are more prisons, our tax dollars go everywhere but to that. As long as our prisons are over crowded criminals are going to be set free. When I see a map of all child molesters in ones area, I find it horrible that these people are set free to do it again. Once someone has crossed that line there should be no forgiving, put them away for life and make them work to pay for their upkeep. I remember at one time all license plates were made by prisoners. They can go back to things like that.

But I love the way you put it "that you would not have a problem pulling the plug" Laughing .

Giz,

I hesitate to voice my opinions (and I have a lot of them) much more than I already have, for fear of derailing the thread and getting into a pro vs anti death penalty conversation. Let's just say I could do it. Jodi Arias #2 2790766383

Those who support Jodi Arias can spin it however they wish. The fact is, there is absolutely NO JUSTIFICATION for someone slaughtering another human being. I wonder how Arias supporters would feel if she had done that to their loved one? Look at the size of Travis's shower stall. There was NO ROOM for him to move around, let alone lunge at anyone. He was surrounded by three walls, and his only escape was through the sliding door which was blocked by Arias. Also, there is no way you can lunge at anyone while you are in the shower naked, wet, slippery, soapy & defenseless. All the evidence shows that Travis was taking a shower at the time of the "attack". Travis had NO CHANCE of escaping from this vicious attack alive, something that Jodi Arias knew well in advance. Those phone sex tapes prove that Arias did NOT do or say anything against her will. The K-Y Jelly is further proof that Arias had anal sex BEFORE she even knew Travis. Most probably, Arias has had more traffic in her anus than Grand Central Station. She is anything but sweet, innocent or naive. She is a sexual predator. She uses every man who is unfortunate enough to come in contact with her. Jodi Arias #2 2488575162

Darkman,
Actually I agree with you on several points. Travis was no choir boy but we can agree he did no deserve to die.
As to the death penalty, as long as that is an option in the US, I am all for it. When it is outlawed (if ever) then I won't have that as an option and LWOP will be the norm. I agree that the DP does not seem to be a deterent, could it be that it takes way too many years and appeals to implement it? People on death row die a natural death before their sentence is carried out.
Anyway, we shall see what we shall see with JA. I am just looking forward to Martinez getting ahold of her!
