Apparently, Trayvon Didn't Die Hard Enough on February 26, 2012

Apparently, according to Mark O'Mara, Donald West, Robert and Gladys Zimmerman, and Robert Zimmerman, Jr., Trayvon did not die hard enough the first time on that rainy night of February 26, 2012. So, they are now trying to kill his reputation and character.

Robert and Gladys Zimmerman have taken to their begging blog to voice their disgust in their country and a judicial system from which they are retired and receiving a monthly pension for prosecuting a man who shot an unarmed child in the heart because he just happens to be their son. Robert Zimmerman, Jr. is doing everything in his power to assassinate Trayvon Martin's character through social media and television and radio interviews. Check out Zimmerman's racist tweets where he compares Trayvon to another black male who shot a baby in the face. Clearly, racism runs in the Zimmerman family.

Racism also runs deep in the minds of Mark O'Mara and Donald West. We all have been aware that the defense team has been acquiring much of their conspiracy information from the Conservative Tree House run by Mark Ivor Bradman, the man who thinks witness intimidation is a-okay as long as he remains anonymous. And we all recall seeing O'Mara's email attempting to schedule meetings with the grand phooba. But yesterday if there was any doubt, our suspicions were confirmed when the defense deliberately published false, irrelevant and inadmissible information purported to be about Trayvon for the sole purpose of inciting white racists to denounce him as a pot smoking black gun toting thug whose death is of no consequence and in hopes of tainting the potential jury pool.

Although we are very close to seeing Justice be had on behalf of Trayvon and his family, we are not there yet. Remember Emmett Till's killers were arrested and charged. Rodney King's torturers were arrested and charged. Sean Bell's killers were arrested and charged. Amadou Diallo's killers were arrested and charged. In each case, the killers and attackers were ultimately released. We cannot allow O'Mara and West to taint the jury such that there is not a fair trial.

The question is where do we go from here? I say we should not put down our signs, take off the hoodies, stop marching, stop protesting or stop petitioning. No. In fact, we should be in an uproar. We cannot let this injustice stand! We must keep up the pressure on the Court and the State's Attorney Office through demonstrations and blogging. We must call for the immediate denouncement of O'Mara's and West's conduct in releasing this inadmissible information. We have seen many legal commentaries speak to how unethical O'Mara's and West's release of this information was, acknowledging the it was for no other purpose than to interfere with the potential jury. Indeed, the President of the Florida Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers specifically said that the only reason that this was done was to taint the jury pool and should not have been made public.

We must remember that this problem is much bigger than Zimmerman. What about the continuing systemic and nationwide problem of racial profiling? What about racial differences in charging and sentencing? More importantly, what about racial bias in treatment of victims?

We must seize the moment and develop a national campaign to end racial profiling, police brutality, vigilantism, and most importantly victim bias based on color of one's skin. Pontification and indignation are not enough. We must engage and get involved. We must demand that O'Mara and West be reprimanded for their conduct and that the media denounce their conduct.

George Zimmerman is a murderer, child molester and woman abuser who is breathing air that doesn't belong to him - I await Karma to inflict justice in the name of Trayvon.

Excellent! Speaks truth to the injustice of a system which is, imo, unfairly tilted in favor of victim bashing and the possibility of quashing true and reasonable justice.

These defense attorneys, and especially O'Mara should be prevented from appealing to the "masses" in the form we have seen in this case. There really is no excuse for this breach of faith in our society and in criminal justice.
