In recent days – and perhaps for the first time in her life – someone outside her family is paying attention to Erica Parsons.

In 2011, her adoptive parents claim she went to live with her grandmother. Nobody has heard from her since.

Relatives who found Erica’s absence odd never bothered to alert authorities.

No favorite teacher intervened because Erica was home-schooled.

No Facebook friend grew suspicious because Erica, at times reclusive, didn’t have an account.

None of the government agencies that could have acted in the child’s behalf appears to have broken any rules. Erica shows up as a name on an adoption decree. She turns up again on a long-ago child-abuse complaint that closed with no charges being filed.

In a widely distributed photograph from 2010, Erica stands before a family Christmas tree, her expression blank.

But now, six months shy of what would be her 16th birthday, Erica has become the subject of a widening hunt by Rowan County, the state and the FBI. Her story has dominated TV news and is about to debut on a nationwide talk show.

Foul play is suspected. No charges have been filed.

Adoptive Mom To Dr. Phil: Erica Parsons Is Alive

Erica Parsons’ adoptive mother says that Erica is alive, and the mystery of her disappearance could be cleared up with a phone call.

“Erica is not missing. Erica is with her grandmother,” a woman known as Nan, Casey Parsons said on the “Dr. Phil” show today. “This would all be over if Nan or Erica would just pick the phone up and call.”

Casey Parsons and her husband, Sandy, said they dropped Erica off with Nan in December 2011 and haven’t seen her since. No one reported Erica missing until her adoptive brother James filed a missing person’s report last month.

Casey and Sandy Parsons said they believe Erica is still with Nan, whom they identified as Irene Goodman, who lived near Asheville.

According to search warrants in the case, the Parsonses weren’t able to provide contact information for Goodman. An Observer search of public records found no Irene Goodman within 50 miles of Asheville. ... read more on the link...

I just picked up on this story yesterday - but I am still not clear on who is the biological mom or dad - it appears that the Sandy Parsons is the biological dad? or at least that is what I picked up watching the Dr. Phil show. There is a second part on Dr. Phil today, but I will miss it because of work. Who in the hell just drops off a kid at McDonald's to an unknown person just because that person happens to know all of the names of the family members? Watching Dr. Phil yesterday, it just appeared like Casey and Sandy Parsons were talking in circles. I would really like to hear a synopsis of this case from someone who has followed it closely and understands the dynamics of what is going on.

No Cherokee, Sandy and Casey adopted her. It appears Sandy's SIL had an affair and Erica was the result.

This woman is a pathological liar. Nan who she claims she handed her over to is the paternal grandmother. She's been told the grandmother died back in 2005 and still no urgency in her to find this child. This has her written all over it. Sandy goes along with Casey cause she's the mom and she knows what's best.

They went on Dr Phil to clear their name. Sandy failed a LDT showing deception.

This woman is a piece of work. She knows what she's done..

Search warrants have been executed. They found teeth, hammer, blood, books about JonBenet, Susan Smith and Zahra Baker..they took a vacuum and canister...the authorities have ramped it up....

Rowan County investigators say they’re reviewing Erica Parsons’ parents’ appearance on the “Dr. Phil” show, including a polygraph expert’s characterization of the father as “strongly deceptive” about the teenager’s disappearance.

The show about Erica’s disappearance was taped last week but broadcast across the nation Tuesday and Wednesday. The polygraph results were presented as the finale to the second part Wednesday.

The show’s expert, Jack Trimarco, a former FBI polygraph examiner, said he asked Sandy Parsons, two questions: Did he deliberately cause Erica’s disappearance, and did he have a plan to cause her disappearance?

“He was what I consider strongly deceptive to both relevant questions,” Trimarco told the host, Dr. Phil McGraw.

“Do you think he knows something he’s not telling us?” Dr. Phil asked.

“He does,” Trimarco responded.

CHINA GROVE, N.C. -- Investigators served another search warrant Wednesday as the search continued for Erica Parsons, the missing Salisbury girl who has not been seen for the last two years.

Her adoptive parents, Sandy and Casey Parsons have said they turned her over to her biological grandmother when she was 13-years-old but the Rowan County Sheriff's Office said investigators did not believe the couple was telling the truth.

The new search warrant was served at the home of Sandy Parsons' step-parents, Janet and William Parsons, on Sutton Road in China Grove.

Janet said investigators looked inside a shed that Sandy had used to store some of his things. She said she did not object to the search, even though the focus was on her son.

"They can come and search and if they find anything I'm 100% comfortable. I just want Erica found," she said.

According to the search warrant, investigators found and took vacuum cleaner parts, school records of Sandy and Casey Parsons, a hammer and some teeth.

Janet said she did not know anything about the teeth.

"They said they were in a little box so it could have been a keepsake or something like that. I don't know," she said.

Eyewitness News spoke to Stone as she entered the courthouse.

“Do you have any reaction to the latest search warrant?” asked reporter Kathryn Burcham.

“No, I haven’t even really been watching a lot,” Stone said.

Casey Parsons’ father, James Irving Stone, also spoke to Eyewitness News. He said he doesn’t want Casey and Sandy Parsons to regain custody of the kids. He said one of the children recently told him that she was hit in the head with a toy by her parents.

Reporter Tina Terry asked Stone if he thinks his daughter is guilty of Erica’s disappearance, and he said, “yes.”

Erica Parsons' adoptive parents move out of home

The parents of missing Rowan County teen Erica Parsons packed up and moved out of their Salisbury home Tuesday afternoon.

Casey and Sandy Parsons did not talk about the move, but their attorney says it is because they are tired of all the attention they've been getting since their older son reported Erica missing nearly a month ago, but nearly two years after she was last seen at the house.

Neighbors say the load up and move out process started last night with about a dozen trips, which lasted about a half an hour each.

A big U-Haul with what appeared to be the final load left around 2 p.m. Tuesday.

The exact destination, or who the family is staying with, is unknown, but a relative who doesn't want to be identified says they could be staying with a boyfriend of one the Parsonses older children.

Rowan County deputies know the Parsons moved out and plan to stay in touch with them and their attorney.

Adoptive parents of Erica Parsons return with U-Haul truck

The family of missing teenager Erica Parsons packed up a U-Haul Tuesday and drove to Fayetteville, but now they are back in Rowan County.

The U-Haul is back in the Parsons' driveway and they have spent the day loading it with more boxes. Tuesday was spent loading the truck with appliances and furniture.

On Wednesday, Erica Parsons' adoptive mother, Casey Parsons, was not seen at the house.Her adoptive father, Sandy Parsons, left the house for about an hour Wednesday morning and recently returned limping when he walks.

“I don't have anything to hide,” said Sandy Parsons.

Searching for Erica
Investigators reviewing surveillance video in missing teen case

SALISBURY, N.C. -- Investigators now have surveillance video that might provide a clue as to what happened to missing teen Erica Parsons.

The video is from surveillance cameras mounted around a home across the street from where Erica was last known to have been living with her adoptive parents.

NBC Charlotte has learned that investigators have reviewed the video from the cameras, some of which dates back two years to the time when Erica was last seen at the house.

Online chats contradict parents’ story about missing teen Erica Parsons

Transcripts of online conversations obtained by the Post show that missing teen Erica Parsons’ adoptive mother was giving updates about her life during a time she now says the teen was missing.

The Parsonses have said they last spoke with Erica in early 2012, but according to the online conversations, Casey Parsons claimed to have been in contact with the teen as recently as March.

The conversations began in April 2010 when Casey Parsons reached out to Carolyn via social networking site Facebook.

In the conversations, Carolyn asks for updated pictures of Erica, which Casey eventually provides. In January 2011, Casey, Sandy and Erica met Carolyn at What-A-Burger in Mooresville.

Later in January 2011, a message was sent to Carolyn from Casey Parsons’ account. The sender said she was Erica and that she did not want any more contact with her biological mother.

In a November 2011 message, Casey told Carolyn that Erica went camping.

A source close to the investigation confirmed the legitimacy of the exchanges.

SANFORD, Fla. – George Zimmerman's wife, Shellie, says she stood by her man "through everything" but once he was acquitted of murder charges in the 2012 shooting of teenager Trayvon Martin, he left her with "a bunch of pieces of broken glass."
Zimmerman, who filed for divorce from George Zimmerman on Thursday, told ABC's "Good Morning America" in an interview aired Friday that her husband is selfish.
She says the couple tried counseling but in the end "George is all about George." She also said he has been verbally abusive and is making what she considers "reckless decisions."
