Latest news in Casey Anthony bankruptcy case

Casey Anthony was catapulted to fame when her two year old daughter went missing in 2008. After making false claims that her daughter had been kidnapped, it was finally revealed that her daughter had drowned and was disposed of out of fear. Casey Anthony’s trial sparked a public interest nearly unparalleled by any other. She was eventually found not guilty of murder. Now she is back in court and back in the spotlight again, this time for a bankruptcy case. Of particular interest is a lawsuit against her filed by Texas EquuSearch, the organization that launched a massive search for Casey Anthony’s daughter before it was revealed that she was already dead.

The lawsuit

Texas EquuSearch filed the lawsuit against Casey Anthony claiming that Casey Anthony already knew her daughter was dead when the search organization launched the efforts to find her. EquuSearch claims to have spent approximately 100,000 dollars on the search for Anthony’s daughter and that Anthony should be responsible for repaying that debt.

The ruling

Casey Anthony’s attorney argued that she should not be responsible for EquuSearch’s decision to search for her missing daughter and that according to the bankruptcy code, the debt should be discharged in order to give her a fresh start. The judge ruled in favor of Casey Anthony and gave EquuSearch three weeks to amend their complaint against her. The ruling has one again sparked a negative response from the public.

One of the people suing Casey Anthony for not being paid for the work he did aiding her acquital in the death of her daughter is the Florida pathologist Dr.  William R. Anderson.

Dr. Anderson is the same pathologist used by the family of Kendrick Johnson finding Kendrick died from "unexplained, apparent non-accidental blunt force trauma to his right neck and soft tissues."
