The documents show Bates had one Taser training class over a six-and-a-half-year period, took three firearms training classes and qualified 10 times, from 2009 to 2014, to use a handgun. His evaluations say he got along with other officers and related well with the public.
"Robert Bates has met all the requisite training required by Oklahoma to be a reserve deputy," said the lawyer, Scott Wood, in an interview with CNN.

Just because they have "signed" documents doesn't mean it's true... I really want to know if the anonymous sources will eventually come out with the truth. I have a sour taste in my mouth with his "Oops I shot him. I'm sorry" and the other officers saying shut the f*ck up... I know I paraphrased a lot but was so happy to see this....

Hi twee....whatta think of the new cases and topics? Anything else you would like to see?
I agree....as the wife of a retired police officer, these cases are making me crazy. It does leave a bad taste in my mouth and the mouth of everyone. I think a lot more is going to come to light, and it will not be pretty.

FBI clears Tulsa sheriff’s office in Eric Harris fatal shooting after gun mixup: sheriff
The FBI cleared an Oklahoma sheriff’s deputy of violating a suspect’s civil rights in the case of a Tulsa County reserve deputy fatally shooting an unarmed man after the volunteer grabbed his revolver instead of his stun gun, the sheriff said Monday.

What?? I will wait for the FBI report... and isn't it an awfully quick investigation on the FBI part?

I find the headline and the article confusing. The head line says it has cleared the Sheriff's Office, yet in the article it says that they have cleared Bates. And I didn't see anything from the FBI.....just the Sheriff word.....strange.

I agree, if indeed the FBI is looking into it, it takes foreverrrr Heard the sheriff and Bates vacationed in the Bahamas on Bates dime. Weird.

The investigation concluded Bates' training was questionable and that he was given preferential treatment.
The investigation found that deputies voiced concerns about Bates' behavior in the field, almost from the very beginning. Bates reportedly used his personal car while on duty and made unauthorized vehicle stops. When confronted Bates said that he could do what he wanted, and that anyone who had a problem with him should go see the sheriff.
The investigation concluded that high ranking officers created an atmosphere where employees were intimidated in order to violate department policy.
Oh my....I see the Sheriff and the ranking brass beating a hasty retreat to retirement. This is not good for them. Hopefully, that investigation won;t magically disappear. Bet the sheriff claims ignorance. They will all soon be feeding on themselves.

Mr Bates just might want to stay in the Bahamas, along with his best friend, the Sheriff or should I say former sheriff (hopefully)

Re: Eric Harris General Discussion #1
This guy had the balls to be pulling people over in his private vehicle. If that isn't a clue that he is overzealous, I don't know what is. IMO, this guy was a murderer waiting to happen. I guess I haven't read this case close enough because if he has been charged with second degree murder, why in the hell is he allowed to leave the United States?

Re: Eric Harris General Discussion #1
CN, from this article. Apparently he already had plans for vacation. Ya think any judge would allow one of us to go on vacation? Sheesh

Bates' lawyers told the judge that Bates, a reserve deputy with the Tulsa County sheriff's office, and his family planned to take their previously planned vacation ahead of his next court date in July.
"It's really not an issue," Corbin Brewster, one of Bates' attorneys, said in an interview after the hearing.
Harris' family criticized the trip, saying it sends a message "of apathy with respect to the shooting and Eric's life."
"At a time when we are still mourning the death of a loved one that he shot down in the street, Mr. Bates will be relaxing and enjoying his wealth and privilege," the family said in a statement released Tuesday
