Suggestions Please

Post by CherokeeNative on Fri Aug 10, 2012 11:44 pm

Now that you have become familiar with our site, we would appreciate you giving us your thoughts and ideas on how we can make improvements to make your experience more user friendly and fun.

George Zimmerman is a murderer, child molester and woman abuser who is breathing air that doesn't belong to him - I await Karma to inflict justice in the name of Trayvon.

Thank's ladies for including us.

I think I have an answer for you.....Angiefly is quickly becoming our librarian. She has been moving links from the threads into the libraries in all the cases so the links will be quickly accessible. So what you may be seeing is a duplication in links, not a duplication in posts. Does that make sense?

The only thing I would like to see is when someone transcribes an interview (like with George) it would go to documents also so if someone wants to look over it again it would be easy to find. I hope that made since.

Snow, we know exactly what you mean. This is the story. When we first opened the site we were just "dumping" links into the GZ Document thread and people would have to click on links to search for what they wanted. Well, we have decided to change that. We have someone who will be working on opening each of the links and copying the transcription and giving it its own thread, under the Document category. So you will be able to see the title, for example "GZ Interview with Det Serino" and when you click on it, the transcription of the interview will be there, along with the link. This is going to take some time, but we agree with you and we are working on it.
Threre will probably still be links to newspaper articles and things that have no transcriptions in the Document Thread.
Hope that addresses your issue. Thanks for the suggestion. We appreciate it.

Quick suggestion- having a short post at the start of a new case thread with a summary of the crime and the suspect. Would be easier to find cases of interest to follow.

Is this site set up so only MODs can start threads? I have two specific examples in mind. The OJ Simpson re-trial case and George Zimmerman. OJ speaks for itself but George Zimmerman is another issue. Given the strong opinions of that case shared by many around here, I think the decision to open up an exclusive Pro Trayvon thread was prudent. Can there also be a thread for those who don't have a dog in the fight and just want to follow the trial with an open mind?

Stars

Post by papapi on Fri May 17, 2013 4:15 am

I have enabled the post starring system on the forum. What this does is allows members to "star" a post they like posted by another member. When a post is starred, a point will be added to the member's "star" tally showing under their avatar. The star system has a + (plus) or - (minus) sign to the far right in every post. Clicking the plus + sign will add a star point to the member's tally and a green marker to the post. Clicking the minus - sign will have no effect on a posting member's star tally, but it will add a red marker to the post. I'm not sure yet if these colored markers will show to other members, so that part is wait and see as members use the system.

Thank you. I clicked your post and the marker turned green, and I can see your green marker on my post. LOL - we'll be like kids in a candy shop, who can make the marker green first! LOL I'm not much on using red marks, but it's there and I couldn't eliminate it.

I have no suggestions. I think the site is terrific. :) But I do have a question. I can't find an option to turn off signatures in the preferences (unless I'm missing it). Is there any way to do this? No offense to anyone's signatures, they're all very nice - but coupled with the quote stacking it messes with my ADD a bit. If not, it not a big deal. TIA

I looked all through the individual member preferences and did not find the option to turn them off. So sorry.

Not a problem at all - really. It's a small price to pay. ;-) Thanks for checking, papapi. At least I know I wasn't missing it.

That's a great idea. It will make it easier to find something you want to reference. Sometimes I have a thought, and would like to read the document, and it takes so long to sift through pages and pages. I just joined, and am excited about joining.

I have suggestion: when navigating a thread, can you add page numbers to the top and not only 'next'? I am on a thread with 38 pages, if I want to go to page 37, I have to click next repeatedly until I get to page 38. This would help...I post on another thread a d that makes it easier, as some threads can have over 100 pages. Thank you.

zesmi - I'm not sure exactly what your requesting, as I see a group of page numbers from which to select at the top of topics with multiple pages. We are limited by the what the phpBB and forumotion platforms allow, so our ability to "tweak" for some options found on other forums is not the greatest, though I wish I could do more.
