Thanks ellejay for the link I wonder what happened to his attorney, I guess he ran out of money. He looked like he believe the court was going to wait on him to get the money and find an attorney. It seemed she was having a hard time getting him to understand that his next court date was may even if he didn't have an attorney, she seemed to have a had time telling him she would appoint and attorney if he didn't find one. I guess he will realize he isn't in charge anymore.

Key hearing rescheduled for August 19th in Bob Bashara murder trial
Robert Bashara's preliminary hearing had initially been planned for Tuesday in 36th District Court in Detroit. The Wayne County prosecutor's office says those involved agreed to hold it Aug. 19 instead.

A Grosse Pointe Park building owned by Bob Bashara at the time of his wife's 2012 murder now is for sale.

The building is almost empty since most of the tenants have taken off, but what's still hidden inside likely will play a key role in the case against Bob Bashara.

A door to the basement leads to his secret sex dungeon. For the first time, cameras have captured what is in the space. To the Local 4 Defenders' surprise, the dungeon that made headlines and that Bashara denied existed is still stocked.

--as it is though, all 3 charges against him carry the penalty of LWOP, and in Michigan, that means never getting out.
I swear, when he's found guilty and the verdict(s) are read-----he'll start blubbering like the coward he is/and/or pee his prison pants right then and there.

Bob Bashara makes court appearance via video

Appearing via video feed today's hearing for Bob Bashara was to determine when and if three computers taken from an acquaintance of Bashara would be returned.

The laptop and two desk top computers belong to Therese Giffen, who lives out of state, and were taken into evidence back in March and she wants the computers back. Little is known about her or her relationship with Bob Bashara.


Attorney for Bob Bashara, Mark Procida said, "I suspect that there are emails, they were acquaintances. They're, again we haven't had a chance, we haven't been told by the prosecutor. I don't know if they've gone through, what's on those computers."


Procida says both the prosecution and defense will copy what's on those computers and return them to Giffen's attorney by Friday. What's clear is there's so much that's not known about this case.

"We were told there's over 8,000 documents. We're still maybe three quarters of the way through those documents," Procida said.

Report: Joseph Gentz to ask judge to withdraw plea in Jane Bashara murder

The Wayne County Prosecutor's Office announced that Joseph Gentz, who has been convicted and sentenced for second-degree murder, filed a post-conviction motion and is scheduled to appear in Wayne County Circuit Court at 9 a.m. Wednesday.

The office did not divulge any further details related to the motion, but WDIV, Channel 4 News in Detroit reports based on its sources that Gentz intends to ask the judge to withdraw his guilty plea.

Gentz admitted to killing Grosse Pointe Park's Jane Bashara, 56, in January of 2012, but now says he didn't understand the implications of the plea deal he accepted in December, according to Channel 4 News.

Joe Gentz won't withdraw guilty plea for 2nd degree murder in Jane Bashara's death

Joe Gentz has changed his mind about withdrawing his guilty plea to second-degree murder in the death of Grosse Pointe Park mother Jane Bashara.

During a court hearing Wednesday, Gentz said he was taking back the letter he wrote to the court asking Judge Vonda Evans to reconsider the plea.

Evans scolded Gentz for going back and forth.

“This is not a game, this is very serious," Vonda told him. "I'm not going to continue to do this with you."

Grosse Pointe Park man charged in wife's murder cited for stealing, lying in prison

Bob Bashara is locked and now in trouble for what he did with ketchup, jelly, spoons, napkins and sugar.

The convict's secret ketchup consumption and his desire to horde condiments has him in trouble with prison guards in Manistee, Mich., where he is being held. The Local 4 Defenders have obtained misconduct reports regarding Bashara.

It appears "Big Bob" lost all privileges for five days after it was found he stole a variety of items from the chow hall and then lied to officials about whether he was given permission.

During a shakedown, officials found packets of ketchup, sugar, jelly, napkins and spoons hidden in Bashara's locker. The report states that Bashara lied to prison officials, saying he was told he could take the extras.

The report was filed June 9. Bashara was cited for possession of stolen property, theft and lying.

On May 30, Bashara also was written up for being "out of place," which means he was not where he was supposed to be at a scheduled time in prison.

Judge orders return of computers in Bashara murder case

Bashara’s attorney, Mark Procida of the State Public Defender’s Office, said he’ll return the computers by Friday. He added after the hearing he wasn’t sure what was on the computers although he said, “I assume they’re emails.”

Procida said he doesn’t know where Giffin is from or the nature of their relationship.

“I assume she’s from Illinois or Oregon,” Procida said. He added that Giffin was an “acquaintance.”

Bashara, the former president of the Grosse Pointe Rotary Club, had his privileges revoked in prison for five days when guards found unauthorized packets of ketchup, sugar and jelly, along with a spoon and napkins, in his cell. Bashara lied about the items, claiming he’d been given permission to take them from the prison kitchen, according to prison officials.

A Sept. 9 preliminary examination is scheduled in Bashara’s case.

Procida nixed the idea of Bashara taking a plea deal: “There’s going to be a trial,” he said.

Prosecutors: Bob Bashara's alternative lifestyle part of motive for murder

New details of the case against Bob Bashara emerged in a Detroit courtroom Monday as prosecutors laid out the time line of hundreds of phone calls that took place on the Grosse Pointe Park businessman’s phone — before and after his wife’s death — and gave what they called part of Bashara’s motive.

Wayne County Assistant Prosecutor Lisa Lindsey said Bashara sought people to do physical violence to a human being for money in the months leading up to Jane Bashara’s death, including a person he knew from his lifestyle in BDSM (bondage, discipline, sadomasochism).

Bashara’s attorney quickly objected to the mention of BDSM and questioned its relevance.

“We’ve taken such strong measures to make absolutely sure that everything was sealed” defense attorney René Cooper said. “And then within three sentences, we’re hearing about the BDSM lifestyle.”

There will be upcoming testimony and discussion about that lifestyle, Lindsey countered.

“The BDSM lifestyle is going to be a part of his motive for committing this crime,” she said.

Lindsey cited several witnesses who said they had conversations with Bashara about violence prior to his wife’s death.

Bashara is scheduled to appear in court again on Sept. 9 for a preliminary examination.

The hearing involves witness testimony, is expected to last five days and is to determine if their is adequate evidence for a Circuit Court trial.
