--if we are to believe HLN, yesterday they said that dropping the DP would not be up to juan----his boss, Bill Montgomery of the Maricopa County Attorney's Office would decide.

--although, I would hope that juan/the family would have a say in it?

--I can't see how, even w/ getting a new jury for this phase only---how could they get them "up to speed" in only a couple of weeks? (an article yesterday said the state and D would have that long to present the facts to the "new jury".)

This poor family just can't get the closure that they seek. Obviously Jodi was once again expecting a life sentence is throwing her phony tears around and looking for sympathy.

The one good thing is that the mis trial didn't come when the defense wanted it to. She was found guilty of premeditated first degree murder. Hopefully the next go round she will be given the death sentence.

Travis' family have to be devastated, they cannot get back to their lives with any closure and have to go through listening to Travis being dragged thru the mud once more.

They will be in my prayers.

The Next Steps in Jodi Arias Case

The jury in Jodi Arias' murder trial has failed to reach a verdict against the woman they convicted of murdering Travis Alexander. The next steps:

NEW JURY:

The judge scheduled a retrial on the penalty phase for July 18. A new jury must be seated to decide the punishment. If the second panel deadlocks, the judge will then sentence Arias to spend her entire life in prison or be eligible for release after 25 years. The judge cannot sentence Arias to death.

NO DEATH:

The prosecutor could decide to take the death penalty off the table and agree to a life sentence. The judge would sentence Arias to spend the rest of her life in prison. Maricopa County Attorney Bill Montgomery issued a statement Thursday saying: "As of this point in time ... we will proceed with the intent to retry the penalty phase."

I feel like that is about all we can do for them right now. I feel so helpless. Through out these last five months, this family has stolen my heart.

I don't know how the jury voted among themselves and I don't want to bash them because I do think they tried their best (well, maybe 11 or less) but I cannot wait for them to see everything they've missed over the last 5 months and evidence that couldn't be shown to them.
I hope with all the power I have in me that the penalty phase will be redone and I hope JA get's the DP.
I'll bet right about now that JA thinks the jury is in love with her, yes, women as well as men.
I want the jury to talk to us and give us an idea of what happened.

County Attorney Comments on Outcome in State v. Jodi Ann Arias

PHOENIX, AZ (May 23, 2013) – Maricopa County Attorney Bill Montgomery released the following statement in response to the lack of a unanimous decision in the penalty phase of State v. Jodi Ann Arias:

“We appreciate the jury’s work in the guilt and aggravation phases of the trial and now we will assess, based upon available information, what the next steps will be. As of this point in time, the Court has set a Status Conference for June 20 and we will proceed with the intent to retry the penalty phase.

Because, for purposes of a jury determination on punishment, this is still a pending matter, there will be no further comment.”

--to say that Jodi's mom/family/and she were all very upset to have missed the (non) verdict.....(implying that everyone else should have waited around all f*cking day for them.)

--Jodi's "dumb" sister posted pics on her f/b-----they were out @ the grand canyon.

--(sister "trivia"--- angela----she's divorced/gave up one child/has another/is engaged now to be married to the son of her older 1/2 sister..)

--not judging her, (she's just the sister of the horrid one), sounds like a tough life that she's had though.....and now, "this", w/ her infamous killer sister.

More cruel and unusual punishment for the Travis Alexander family.

There's something desperately wrong with a justice system that continues this torture of Travis' family.

She is covering her face with a manila envelope...Yes, sure enough. After having interview's back to back to back the other night. Now she want's to hide her mug? My guess is she couldn't contain her giddy torture to the Alexander's.

Yeah, right. Now she's all media shy? I guess since she couldn't control it, and couldn't work her evil, sadistic spells, she didn't want any part of it.

I just thought about the part in "A Time to Kill" where one of the jurors says "Now picture her white" (this is from the book) I wonder if Juan could have said in essence what if it was Travis on trial for savagely killing Jodi... I bet almost anything it would have been Death within one hour

Jodi Arias Sentencing - VERDICT

Statement by Sheriff Joe Arpaio:

"Because the jury in the Jodi Arias murder trial was hung, Arias will remain as a closed custody inmate in the Maricopa County Sheriff's Estrella Jail. Arias has been in Sheriff Arpaio's care and custody for five years and will stay with MCSO until the judicial system renders a final conclusion as to her fate. As a closed custody inmate, Arias remains in her 7x11 cell for 23 hours a day and Arpaio will no longer permit Arias to give media interviews."
